I agree with Baylor University and the CU track and field coordinators that many students are using Facebook and MySpace on inappropriate terms. However, it is not only students who are abusing their priveledges when using these sites, for adults are also posting indecent remarks and pictures. This can later effect their ability to get a job, and can also effect those around them. Also, according to Nicole McAninch students are now beginning to realize that by posting pictures of themselves on Facebook or MySpace, they are not simply posting images for their friends, but are effecting their entire future. One simple picture or phrase could keep them from getting a job. Many young teenagers or adults feel that this is just a way of posting images for their friends, however, it is much more. When using Facebook and MySpace in an appropriate matter and using passwords, then this is just another way to communicate with your friends.

However, when allowing the entire world to view this, it can do much more damage. There have been many cases where students have gotten into trouble for posting indescent remarks or pictures. For example, many athletes on the CU track and field team were suspended for posting indecent pictures of themselves. The school showed the students how easily they could be found by "Googling themselves." The students simply typed in their names and maybe something about their Facebook, and then found their account. They began to realize that this could have a much bigger effect than expected. I think that students should be more aware of what they are posting to the world.
